Biography
Henry Savage Thacher was born on 1826 December 11 in Biddeford, Maine. He married Sarah Drown Eastman and had five children. He founded the Thacher Medicine Company in 1867 following previous business ventures in hospitality and wartime medicines. Thacher led the company until his death in 1899. Under Thacher’s leadership, the brand gained notoriety in the southeastern United States for products including Dr. Thacher’s Liver and Blood Syrup, Worm Syrup, and Cholera Mixture.
