Biography

James Beriah Frazier Jr. was born in Chattanooga on June 23, 1890. He was educated at Baylor Preparatory School and the University of Virginia, later graduating from Chattanooga College of Law in 1914. He volunteered to serve in World War I in 1917 and discharged as a Major in 1919. In 1933 he was appointed United States attorney for the eastern district of Tennessee and served until 1948. He was elected to Congress in 1949 and served until 1963. After leaving Congress, he resumed practicing law in Chattanooga until his death in 1978.
