Biographical/Historical note

John Bennett (1865-1956) was born the son of a merchant in Ohio. He was a writer and illustrator of children’s books. Some of his works include, “Master Skylark,” “The Doctor of the Dead,” and “The Pigtail of Ah Lee Ben Loo, with Seventeen Other Laughable Tales & 200 Comical Silhouettes,” which won the Newberry Honor in 1929.
