They can’t expect much from Macmillian because they declined to publish “Design out of Dust” a year and a half ago. States that Miss Cole may have disapproved of MS. Mentions previous difficulty in publishing poems in individual magazines. Mentions that publishers are wary about publishing poetry and prefer novels. Scruggs encloses a peom published in Harper’s. States that current MS is better than “Glory of Earth.”

Anderson M. Scruggs (1897-1955) was a Georgia dentist, educator, and poet. Some of his most noted works include “Glory of earth,” “Ritual for myself,” and “I hear them in the dawn.”
