Biographical/Historical note
Jesse Stuart (1907-1984) was an American writer of short stories, poetry, and novels about Appalachia. A poetry collection, “Man with a Bull-Tongue Plow,” was published in 1934. He also published about 460 short stories and some novels, including “Taps for Private Tussie.”
