Biographical / Historical

Robert S. Davis, director of the Family and Regional History Program and professor of Genealogy, Geography, and History at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama. He authored "Joe Ritchey of Tennessee: An American Desperado in Legends, Newspapers, And a Federal Pension File," an article published in the Tennessee Historical Quarterly in 2009. Davis also published "The Old Soldier's Story: Harrison E. Lewis Faces a Murder Charge in Chattanooga, 1931” in the Chattanooga Regional Historical Journal in 2005. During the course of his research for the two aforementioned articles, Davis ammased a collection of research notes and correspondence related to his articles.

Joseph Ritchey was an outlaw in Hamilton County, Tennessee. He was born in 1840 and died in 1876.

Harrison E. Lewis was a self-proclaimed Indian fighter, war veteran, and author.
