Biographical / Historical

Edwin Lindsey was a professor in the Department of English at the University of Chattanooga from 1924 until his retirement in 1968. A gifted musician, Lindsey spent much of his free time playing and composing music, and played viola for the Chattanooga Symphony for nine seasons. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Lindsey authored two original plays, There Shall Be Peace in 1952 and Beyond the Dark in 1961. Edwin Lindsey passed away in 1989 at the age of 102.
