Biographical / Historical

Orrelle Fidlar Cornelius was a University of Chattanooga (UC) theater production director for the University Players from 1928-1942. She was hired to this position to provide additional extracurricular offerings to the UC student body. She wrote at least 3 original plays: The Whippoorwill, The Tie that Binds, and Mother's Old Home. She directed numerous UC theater productions as well as other dramatic performances in the Chattanooga area. Her husband is David William Cornelius who was a University of Chattanooga physics professor from 1920 to 1940.
