Mary Vance amassed her collection of home movies and photographs that document the practice of imbibing poisons and serpent handling in Appalachia as a young woman who was raised in the Jesus Name Tradition. Her home movies and photographs provide an intimate exploration of the lives and deaths of believers as images of practicioners were largely captured in their homes.
