This collection contains programs from commencement ceremonies ranging from 1887 to the present, with some gaps. During these ceremonies, candidates for graduation have their degrees formally conferred to them by the University. The content of these programs varies over the years, but generally includes lists of candidates for degrees, the order of service, lists of faculty marshals, and lists of students receiving other recognitions such as departmental honors, Alpha Society memberships, and Brock Scholars.

Biographical / Historical
The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for overseeing academic programming at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. This includes administrative responsibility for the success of students and faculty, program review and improvement, accreditation and self-evaluation efforts, and the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning at the University. This division is led by the Provost, the university's chief academic officer. The Office of Academic Affairs plays an instrumental role in organizing commencement ceremonies at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, including preparing commencement programs.
