Biographical / Historical

Bill W. Stacy served as Chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1997 to 2004. During his tenure, the campus experienced an unprecedented construction boom, with structural changes including the addition South Campus housing, a major expansion of the University Center, and the Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science Building. Stacy's vision of progress through partnerships went beyond brick and mortar, and with the support of the $25 million Lupton Renaissance Fund, he led the transformation of the campus by fulfilling a 30-year dream of adding doctoral programs in physical therapy and computational engineering. Along with the latter program came the The SimCenter: The National Center for Computational Engineering--the first internationally recognized dedicated research facility at the university.
