Biography

The Chattanooga Woman's Club was founded in 1894 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The membership organized themselves into departments, including storytellers, music, drama, civics, house and garden, art, and literature. According to a 1914 article published in the Chattanooga Daily Times, the Chattanooga Woman's Club was the first local group to support the anti-tuberculosis movement, their success leading to the creation of Tuberculosis Sanitorium Association which eventually established the Pine Breeze Sanitorium in Chattanooga, Tennesseee.

The Chattanooga Woman's Club owned property located at 624 McCallie Avenue in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

In 1929, the Chattanooga Woman's Club and the Kosmos Club merged forming the Kosmos-Woman's Club.

This collection contains yearbooks produced by the Kosmos-Woman's Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee from 1922 to 1946. The yearbooks document the philanthropies, scholarships, awards, officers, committees, meetings, calendars, reports, bylaws, and membership of the organization. The collection also includes copies of an undated handbook created by the Woman's Missionary Societies in Nashville, Tennessee.
