Review Club (1931-) (Chattanooga, Tenn.)

 Organization

Biography

Originally organized as the Junior Kosmos in 1924 for women under the age of thirty as a division of the Kosmos, the Review Club was founded in 1931 by women in Chattanooga, Tennessee. According to the President's Report in the 1931-1932 yearbook produced by the organization, the membership dropped the Junior Kosmos name in favor of the Review Club "at the request of the Kosmos-Chattanooga Woman's Club... to avoid confusion in publicity notices."

Also in 1931, the Review Club withdrew from the Tennessee Federation of Women's Clubs, with which it had been affiliated since 1924, to focus on the membership's purpose "to stimulate the intellectual growth of its members and to give aid to the work of philanthropy."
